This stylish
Maclaren Lulu Guiness ‘This is the Life’ buggy comes with both raincover and shopping basket included. Rumour has it that there are not many of these rather funky lightweight buggies left (just 7 at John lewis at time of writing).
Along with its easyfold and lightweight design, the Maclaren Lulu Guiness has some quirky features, including the names of many different countries and cities printed all over the hood and seat. Meanwhile, the 5-point harness and adjustable leg rest also have ‘This is the life’ written across them. It features 4 reclining positions, tilting hood, a 99% UV protective viewing window, one-hand fold, carry handle and shopping basket.
Currently in stock here; but be quick!

A little bit sad I know, but when I’m out and about I cannot help but check out what pushchairs are pounding the pavements. As always, in the buggy and stroller market it seems to be Maclaren this Summer, but in the more expensive ranges and the 3 wheeler market I am seeing an awful lot of Phil and Teds out there.
Phil & Teds were hugely popular last Summer and there was a feeling amongst many ‘experts’ that it may be something of a fad; however the durability and quality of the brand and its product seems to have ensured that the buggies from New Zealand are going to keep coming.
Two further things I’ve noticed. John Lewis, having not stocked Phil & Teds at all, have now launched their own Phil & Teds Brand Shop on their website here. They must have just got sick to death of expectant mums coming into their shops and leaving disappointed after being told that John Lewis didn’t stock the brand. Furthermore there are a whole raft of quality new Phil & teds products in the pipeline. As well as the Phil & Teds Smart model coming onto the pushchair market, they also have a great looking range of baby carriers and travel cots hitting UK shores soon. If you are taking the plunge and buying your Phil & Teds soon, be sure to check out our Phil & Teds deals first!

Kiddicare must be taking a punt that Summer isn’t really going to happen this year as they have currently reduced the MyChild Universal Parasol to just £6.99 (from 17.99). You can purchase it in a number of colours here. No frills, the clip-on parasol is perfectly attractive and is the ideal item to protect your little one from harmful uv rays; should we get any (rays, not children)!

Following on from our recent blog piece about Travel Systems we see that the Petite Star Kurvi4 has won ‘Best Buy’ in the Mother & Baby magazine best travel system category.
The magazine gives a RRP of £388.99, however it is currently available for just £299 at Boots here and Mothercare here. If purchasing from Mothercare you will actually get a further £30 off with our Mothercare voucher code.
The Petite Star Kurvi 4 is considerably cheaper than other models in the travel system category. At under £270 with our discount code the model is some £300 or so cheaper than some of its alternatives. Further benefits are the ease with which the frame folds and unfolds and the fact that it allows newborns to lie flat in pram mode.

Buying a buggy can be daunting enough without there being any confusion over the right terminology. A surprising number of mums and mums to be aren’t entirely sure what a travel system is and how it differs from a pushchair or stroller. So, the aim of this post is to make clear exactly what a travel system does.
Simply put, a travel system offers an all-in-one car-seat and pushchair package. What this means is that the baby can be moved from car to pushchair and pushchair to car with little difficulty. Of course, within the ‘travel system’ sector itself, there are many varieties, lightweight, heavy, three-wheelers, lie-flats and three-in-ones (which have a removable carrycot) – so you will need to consider what best serves your needs.
Consider the following:
Is the car seat a good one and does it fit you vehicle? There is little point in buying a travel system and then having to spend another £100 or so on a reliable car seat. Is the car seat an ISOFIX (most newer models are). ISOFIX car seats perform well in ‘crash tests’ and are easier to fit. But, some older models of car do not have ISOFIX fixing points, do do check this.
How is the folding mechanism on the travel system? You are partly buying the unit on the basis that it is ‘easy in – easy out’ the car. You need
to ensure you can manage the folding mechanism of the pushchair and also ensure that it fits in your boot!
What seat does the pushchair itself have? Ideally the seat will be roomy enough for when the baby becomes a toddler, but also reclines flat to support a newborn’s spine.
The usual pushchair considerations will also apply the same with your travel system. Is it light enough for you? Is the pushchair handle comfy and at a good height for you (your partner?). What wheels does the travel system have? Most ‘off road’ travel systems have large wheels, more urban models have swivel wheels perfect for shopping and scurrying around town.
What travel system to buy? That is not a question we can answer. It depends on your budget and exactly what it is you are looking for. If money is no object then consider the Concord Neo.
For better value then consider the Petite Star Kurvi4, the Bebe Confort Streety or the new Silver Cross Halo.
